My Credentials

Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)

Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork is the highest voluntary credential a massage therapist can obtain within the profession—it is above and beyond entry level state licensure. By becoming Board Certified, I represent a community of therapists who have gone above standard educational and work experience requirements with a dedicated and lifelong commit to continuing education. Furthermore, I live up to higher standards and ethics in alignment with The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

To achieve my Board Certification, I provided proof of a minimum of 750 hours of education, 250 hours of professional, hands-on work experience, passed a criminal background check, agreed to uphold NCBTMB's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and passed the Board Certification Exam. By passing the BCETMB and meeting all requirements, I demonstrate advanced assessment and critical thinking skills, as well as a commitment to excellence. I wear the credentials BCTMB with pride for myself, my profession, and, most importantly, my clients.

Specialty Certificate in Orthopedic Massage (NCBTMB)

To achieve this specialty, I completed a 160-hour program through the Muscular Therapy Institute and passed the specialty exam through NCBTMB that tested my ability to:

  • Integrate a thorough understanding of the relevant anatomy, precise testing methods, and analytical skills necessary to assess and treat all of the common soft tissue pain and injury problems within my chosen modality
  • Obtain a mastery of client/practitioner boundary challenges with skills to create, manage, and adjust boundaries in my work and life
  • Build better and more lasting client relations with improved communication skills that transform potentially difficult or challenging discussions into positive, satisfying conversations

My Specialty Certificate in Orthopedic Massage is recognized by the massage therapy profession's only certification board (NCBTMB) and is embraced nationwide by fellow key stakeholders, including employers.

Myofascial Release

I am certified in Myofascial Release with the Core Institute. I completed my training in 2007. Myofascial Release eases restrictions in connective tissue (fascia)  in our body. Fascia wraps around muscles, bones, organs, and is the wrapping that holds us in postural positions. Scars are also held in fascia. I often work with scars, limited range of motion and postural patterns. Fascia lengthens and changes with slow sustained pressure. Fascia work can be strong or gentle; I use this technique in a very gentle way.

Craniosacral Therapy

I have studied Craniosacral Therpay with the Upledger Institute for 15 years. Craniosacral therapy works with the nervous system. The spine, head, and fascia can hold restrictions that affect the nervous system. In a session, these restrictions can ease and the receiver feels more relaxed, and usually feels less pain. It is a very gentle technique. The receiver wears clothing for sessions. This technique can assist with changing pain patterns, headache patterns, TMJ, and postural patterns. Somato- Emotional Release happens when emotions are stored along with tensions in the body. Craniosacral increases integration between the mind, body, and spirit.
